our statistical God...

Sitting here in Statistics, God revealed something to my heart. This is that He, God, is a God of statistics. You might be quick to think or say "Not at all! What about.." and stop. Haven't you found that, as the saying goes "Hind-sight is always 20/20"? We know that there are oft times in our lives that God moves...and moves us...without ANY clear reasoning, or at least this is how it appears to us at the time. But if you look back upon your life, I think you will find, as I do upon such reflection, that now those times which once appeared confusing and muttled, are now, in at least SOME small way, more understandable and clear. Even miracles, which our frail and limited intellect could never fully expound upon with any scientific form or reason, are statistical to God...they all make sense to Him. Come on, we are talking about the Creator here. The One whose mere whisper brought forth in an instant the creation of all things. Isn't it a bit limited in thinking to say that a Being that possesses such knowledge, power, and grace does not see the statistical and find the simplicity in all of His miracles?

You might read this and be wondering "Why on EARTH is this guy rambling on about a trivial matter such as this? So to God all things makes sense...and to us...sometimes they don't...so what?" I think this EXACT fault in our thinking is what has allowed the creature of Relativity to creep into the lives and churches and fellowships of Christians all over the world in years of late. Some of you might even think that Relativity is not that big of a deal...and some may even be embracing it as a method of living. But, take heed, it is a big deal...perhaps the greatest tool Satan ever found to use against us and the greatest crippler of the abundant life that God so desires for us to have. God is a God of black and whites...of absolutes. Not only does He not agree nor enjoy the "grey area"...he loathes and detests it. "I know your deeds, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth." - Relativity is, assuredly, PURELY from Satan. Everything our God has created has a natural order to it. This can be seen in so many ways: such as the mathematical formulations and explanations available for EVERY creature and creation.

One of my all time favorite quotes is from a movie called The Usual Suspects. It's a suspense-filled thriller about a crime lord that has eluded authorities for generations. The quote is by Kevin Spacey's character affectionately nomickered Verbal Kent. He said ", The greatest trick the devil ever pulled, was convincing the world he didn't exist." Every time I read that or hear it in the movie, it sets a sensation of awe in my heart. I don't think Christopher McQuarrie (the movie's writer), or maybe he did, truly realized the implication of that simple statement. Through our belief that we actually have any control over our world...we have stripped the integral truth of exactly just what it is we are up against.

Hey its Cheryl, I finally had a chance to sit down and check out your site... I must say - it's pretty awesome! I haven't known you for too long but its awesome to see that you are so passionately on fire for Christ and truly searching for His face. Your words are an inspiration to their readers, and as long as you allow Him to direct your words, He will never leave your side. How awesome will that day be when we hear the words..." well done, thou good and faithfull servant" - a phrase that never ceases to send shivers up my spine.... take care Mark, and God Bless!
