"Before I can be the God...the absolute center...of
any relationship between two people, I must first be the God of each individually." This is what God said to me this morning. Upon further diving into this heart-leading, I came across another truth: that we are not to simply be good friends with others, but we are to care and treat them as what they are - our brothers and sisters in Christ. THIS is the type of love we are to have for them...the kind of care we must share with them. "...there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." - Proverbs 18:24 Merriam Webster's dictionary defines a friends as "1 a: one attached to another by affection or esteem" and also as "2 a: one that is not hostile". This same source defines a brother or sister as one who has the same parents. This seems a bit more binding than simply one that is merely attached by affection or esteem. And, as anyone who has a brother or sister can attest to, brothers and sisters are not always affectionate. There is a deeper bond...a bond that not any amount of time, nor distance, nor even feelings and emotions can sever.
