When asked by a member of his church, the Austin Stone, that if by defining themselves as a New Testament church Matt Carter was in essence saying that they were not a church of the Old Testament, he responded as such:

"You can't even begin to understand the cross until you know what's going on in the Old Testament. The cross makes no sense without the Old Testament. (and here's the part I love) You can't begin to understand grace and love until you understand law and wrath."
